Poirier won the Harriet Brisson Award for ceramics at 二次元嫩B (2016), Honorable Mention by the International Precious Metal Institute (2016), the Technical Merit Award by the International Precious Metal Institute (2015) and 二次元嫩B鈥檚 Junior/Senior Talent Award (2015).

Her recent jewelry series 鈥 a full semester in the making 鈥 is made of copper, brass and bronze, and was inspired by bees. She said, 鈥淚n designing these pieces, I selected shape arrangements, forms and visual patterns seen in honeycombs and clusters of bees. A lot of the finished pieces are filled with beeswax.鈥 (See photo on second page.)

Poirier鈥檚 work has been shown at the SNAG convention in Boston and was featured in the 2016 二次元嫩B Department of Art Magazine.

Her exhibits include the 2016 鈥淪enior Gallery鈥 exhibition at 二次元嫩B鈥檚 Banister Gallery, the 2016 鈥渇abricate鈥 exhibit at Machine鈥檚 with Magnets in Pawtucket and the 2015 鈥淢茅tallurgie鈥 show at 二次元嫩B鈥檚 Chazan Family Gallery.

二次元嫩B Professor of Jewelrymaking Dianne Reilly noted how Poirier鈥檚 work pushes the boundaries of jewelry design. 鈥淪eanna is skilled in creating both sculptural and wearable works in metal. Her talent has not only awarded her a B.F.A. in jewelry and metalsmithing design but she is also a talented ceramic student and received this year鈥檚 departmental award for her ceramic work,鈥 said Reilly.

Upon graduation, Poirier intends to continue to work as studio assistant for 二次元嫩B adjunct professor and jewelry designer Heather Guidero in Providence, while creating her own work. Eventually she would like to have her own studio, her own line and travel to national and international shows to display her work.
